Major catch up!
I can not believe how long it has been since I last posted something! A lot has gone on, but nothing so huge that y'all are missing out. We have been slowly getting ready to move to Florida. I am still in denial, but I better snap out of it because come next Friday when I step on that plane it's going to be real.
So, here are some things that went on. Hannah had a good XC season. I was really very proud of her. This was her first year running and she had a lot of fun. Her coach is an amazing man. He is like 72 yrs old and so loved here. He is very patient, but not much goes past him. The State Championships are tomorrow. Hannah didn't make the cut, but none of the JV girls did. We are going anyway to cheer on our Jaguars! I found out the XC season at her new school is just starting. I have been in touch with the coach and she is saving a spot on the team for Hannah. On her first day of school, she will have practice. That's a good way to dive in!
Hannah also got her braces off last week. Her teeth look beautiful! She is so happy to have them off. Now it's retainer time. I have told her if she doesn't wear it and her teeth go back, she's on her own!! She also was selected by Duke University to participate in their Talent Identification Program. It's for student who score above the 95th percentile during the 6th grade standardized testing. She will get to take the ACT in Feb. with other 7th graders. Then over the next 4 years Duke University will work with her through special programs and summer camps to prepare her for the ACT again and help her in her schooling. She really is a very bright girl. Much brighter than I ever was for sure!
Jack has been active in scouts, soccer and loves school. He turned 8 today and is getting baptized on Sunday. I will post about that after the fact. He is a super smarty too. My kids surely don't get their school brains from me, but they get my good looks! Jack loves to read and is excited to move to Florida, even though he will miss his friends here. He's my adventurer!
Rachael, well she's Rachael. She can eat fried chicken like nobody I know. She loves to ride her bike and help me in the kitchen. She didn't really like soccer last year so we are going to try another sport. She think maybe tennis or swimming. She loves school and doesn't like missing it ever. She is more like me about moving. She is sort of looking forward to it, but is really going to miss it here. She loves it almost as much as I do. Hence the love for fried chicken!
What's up with me? Well, I got a puppy for my birthday. I got him a little early. He is simply the cutest thing ever!!!! I love him to death. He is so stinkin' cute. He is a toy Schnauzer and I named him Schultz. I have also taken up tennis yet again. I stated up lessons a few months ago hoping to finally learn it. I have been taking lessons on and off my whole life. I have never been able to play though. Very frustrating let me tell you!!!! I have a coach now who is the best ever. I am so sad to leave. I have been loving playing so much that I have been taking private lessons about 3 or 4 times a week the past few weeks. Now there is no way I could afford this except my coach is giving me a super duper deal. Thanks David!!!! I have a good foundation now that I am confident I can grow to be even better after I move. I have already joined the USTA and put feelers out to join some leagues.
We closed on our new house last week. Byron has been down there for almost a month now. He saw to all the house details. Fine with me, since I am in denial right? Well, he even has found a painter to paint the inside since the colors were simply putrid! I don't mind painting, but every room needed to be done and I don't see that I can do that, at least in the time I would want it done!!!
