We bought a book recently about hiking trails here in Mississippi. Yesterday we decided to try one out. We invited some friends of ours and set out. We chose an easy one to start with since we weren't sure how the little kids would do. We also picked one that wasn't too far of a drive either.
Once we arrived at the park where the hike was located, we spent more time trying to find the trail head than the actual hike took! The book stated that the hike would take about 1.5 hrs(ummm, can't see how). We didn't actually take that long to find it, but we walked around forever just trying to locate the start point. I was a little worried that once we found it the kids might not last the whole route.
The hike was on a path that lead you through the tree tops on an elevated wooden walk way. It was nice, but ended up being very short. We ended up at the lake and the kids had a pretty good time. Our dog Corduroy loved it the most. It was a little hot for him, but once he made it to the water, he wallowed in it for about 30 minutes! He even submerged his whole face at one point.
After we made it back to our cars, we sat and had a picnic. All in all it was a fun trip. So glad the drive wasn't far, it wouldn't have been not too worth it. Next up is a hike near some waterfalls.
