A few days ago I ventured out to one of the DMV locations here to get my Mississippi drivers license. I didn't have all the needed paperwork so I left without it. When I returned home I looked to see if there was a closer location. Yesterday I went. I planned on getting there early so I could get it over with. First I called to make sure I had all the paperwork I needed, packed up Rachael and headed out.
When I got there, it was an old City Hall building that looked as if it needed to be demolished! I proceeded to the assigned room. There were just a small handful of folks waiting ahead of me so I thought "great" it won't take long. When it was my turn I handed over the asked for paperwork. It wasn't correct!!! after a few minutes of going back and forth I headed to my car to retrieve a paper that would verify my new address.
I am asked to sit in a chair where this man begins to talk to me, although I don't understand a word he is saying due to his heavy accent and mumbling. I ask him to repeat it just as the flash from the camera goes off. Crap! He didn't seem to care that I was stunned or even bother to ask if I would like the picture re-done. Heavens no since that would impede on his wrapping things up so he could go to lunch a few minutes early.
So I get my license and walk out feeling like I just had my photo taken for the FBI's top 10 most wanted list. Seriously folks, that's just what the picture look like. Maybe I should "loose" it in a few months and go get a new one...

Wait you changed your picture. THat was a frightening picture. I had to read to see who that was. She was scarey. That is not a fun story. It reminds me of Brazil though. Strangely, here, our experiences with the DMV have been fast and effecient. The employess however live up to reputation and can't crack a smile to save them. Josh just informed me that he can get his permit in 1 1/2 weeks! Help!
oops, efficient.
p.s. which of those books over there were your favorites? I already read Kite runner and 3 cups of tea. That Frank L.W. looks interesting.
