Jack decided he wanted to play basketball this winter. He tried t-ball last spring, but didn't care for it too much. He has a really great coach who teaches the kids that it's not always about winning, but to have fun and do your best. At first Jack really didn't have a clue what he was supposed to do. The first 2 games he played were a double header and after the 2nd game he was bushed and cranky. He said he didn't want to play any more! Our rule however is if you start something, you follow through! I decided to practice with him after school at our neighbors house across the street who has a hoop that lowers to the height Jacks league uses. That boy shot baskets for 45 minutes straight. In that time he managed to get 5 in. He was very happy with himself. Then we did a little one on one to help he with getting the ball away from his opponents.
The next day it rained so we had to practice inside. Just dribbling. The day after that it was nice again so we shot some baskets again. He did this for an hour this time and got 10 balls in the basket! Wow! needless to say he was proud.
This past Friday night he had a game. It didn't go well. I think when they assigned the teams they didn't do a good job putting them together. It seems Jack's team has all the players who haven't played before and are the youngest. Therefore they usually loose. This doesn't do well for their little morales. He decided he didn't want to play anymore again. Well, the very next day they had another double header! Plus they had to be there an hour early for pictures! I was worried he would be too tired by the second game.
The first game went great. The two teams seemed pretty well matched. Jack's team didn't win, but they did really well. Jack even made a basket and shot a free throw at 1/2 time! He was so excited!!! This made playing the 2nd game not so bad, but he was tired by the 2nd half. His last game is tomorrow. I am so proud of him. Considering he really didn't have a clue at the begining, he has come a long way and did super!!Next year will be even better! WAY TO GO JACK!!!

What a cutie! Good for you to take all that time to practice with him. We went to sign up for basketball for Bella and there wasn't another girl in sight so we took off.
